Aperol – 1 L

Bitter aperitif, made in Padua since 1919. Bitter orange, rhubarb and gentian give it its character, and the bright orange colour comes from the recipe itself. At 11% ABV it is markedly lighter than most bitters.

In the glass

It starts sweet, then a clean bitterness of gentian and rhubarb follows. The finish stays fruity rather than sharp.

Serving

The spritz as originally mixed: three parts prosecco, two parts Aperol, a splash of soda, plenty of ice and a slice of orange.
