Bicicletas y Peces – Spanish for “Bicycles and Fish” – comes from the Somontano DO, one of Spain’s most internationally oriented wine regions, situated in northern Aragón between the Ebro plain and the Pyrenees. The label’s tongue-in-cheek image of fish riding bicycles has made this bottle immediately recognisable. What’s inside is equally straightforward: a varietal Chardonnay that delivers fruit-forward freshness without pretension.

Taste Profile

The wine opens with aromas of citrus, white peach and hints of tropical fruit. On the palate it is fresh and light-bodied, with a clean acidity that keeps the fruitiness in check. The finish is short and dry.

Origin & Production

Somontano – meaning “below the mountain” – lies at the foot of the Pyrenees in northern Aragón. The region’s continental climate with warm summers and cool nights provides good conditions for international white varieties. Somontano was one of the first Spanish DOs to focus systematically on Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer alongside local grapes.
